Pattaya Vegetarian Festival

by admin
(20 October 2017)

The festival occurs yearly during the period from the 1st to the 9th of the 9th Chinese lunar month, which corresponds to 20-28 October. During this time almost all food shops and restaurants will fly yellow flags signifying that vegetarian food is available there. It is very convenient (and healthy!) to have vegetarian meals during this time.

People observing the festival should abstain from eating meat, animal oil and five pungent-odour vegetables, namely garlic, onion, chives, garlic chives and tobacco. The vegetarians can have their vegetarian meals either at home or at a Chinese temple.

There will also be a grand procession carrying two statues of Chinese deities -- Kiew Uang Huk Jo and Kuanyin Bodhisattava. The procession will begin in the city and end at Sawang Boribun Dhamma Sathan. Participants should dress in white.

I like this information. I am working in Pattaya now and will join in this festival this coming October. I believe will gain some theory.
